Portman2 is in beta. Features are still being added, nothing here should be taken as final, and things can change or be removed without notice.

The photo viewer

Star, tag and file while viewing

Star, tag, file into an album, hide, rotate or delete the photo you are looking at without leaving the viewer — always the photo on screen, never the selection.

Everything you can do to a photo in the grid you can do in the viewer.

The controls in the corner

The top-right corner holds, from left to right: a badge when the photo is hidden, an amber badge when two computers edited it at once, the star, the selection circle and the ✕ that closes the viewer.

  • Click the star, or press S and Shift+S, to star or unstar the photo.
  • Click the circle, or press Ctrl+Space, to add it to the selection or take it out. The selection tray at the bottom shows what you have gathered.

Keys that work here

  • L adds to an album, T tags, and the digit keys use your album slots.
  • H hides, Del moves to the trash, R rotates.
  • Ctrl+E opens the editor on this photo.
  • Ctrl+Shift+F closes the viewer and finds similar photos.
  • Ctrl+Enter opens the photo in a window of its own.
  • F2 or Insert pins it to the static screens.

A photo that leaves the view — trashed or hidden — fades out and the viewer moves on to the next one.
