Sync albums with QuMagie on a QNAP NAS
Keep Portman2's albums in step with QuMagie, the photo app on a QNAP NAS, in both directions — on a schedule or whenever you press Sync now.
Connecting
- NAS host — the NAS's name or address.
- Username and Password — use a dedicated NAS account with the least rights it needs, not an administrator.
- Local folder — the library folder as this computer sees it.
- QuMagie prefix — the same folder as QuMagie sees it, such as
Pictures/Family/.
Test connection checks the details and says whether they work.
Syncing
- Sync every — off, 15 minutes, hour, 6 hours or day.
- Preview — shows what a sync would do, without changing anything.
- Sync now — syncs at once.
The pane says when the last sync was. The first sync merges both sides: an album's photos on either side end up on both.
Conflicts
When the two sides disagree in a way Portman2 will not guess about, the pane lists the conflicts, the first few on screen and the rest behind Copy the list. Nothing in a conflict is changed until it is settled.
A photo in an album synced with QuMagie is removed from QuMagie's album too when it is moved to the trash.
