Search by album, tag, date or name
Press Ctrl+F and type to narrow the grid to the photos that match — by album, tag, date, keyword or file name — with suggestions as you type.
A filter, not a place
The search narrows whatever grid you are on — an album, a tag, a date or the whole library — and says so in the box, for example in Mum's 60th ✕. Click that ✕ to search the whole library instead, keeping your words. Close the search and you are back where you were.
Suggestions
As you type, a list offers albums, tags, dates and machine keywords that match the word under the cursor, each with its count.
↓and↑move through the suggestions. With none showing,↓moves to the grid with the first result highlighted.Enternarrows by the highlighted suggestion, which then sits in the box as a chip.Tabnarrows by the first suggestion.Shift+Enter, or the arrow on a suggestion's row, opens that album, tag or date as the view instead of narrowing by it.Backspaceat the start of the box removes the chip before it.
Closing
Esc closes the suggestions; pressed again, it clears the search and closes the box, leaving the view where it is. Ctrl+F while the box is open selects what you have typed.
Under the box, a line says how each word was read — "mum → tag Mum, album Mum's 60th" — and a word that matches nothing is named in the empty grid. See What a search matches.
The search works together with the filter in the top bar.
