Hide private photos behind a PIN
Hide private photos from the grid without deleting them. They are collected in Hidden in the sidebar, behind a four-digit PIN, and are never served to the LAN pages.
Hiding and unhiding
- Press
H, choose Hide on the photo menu, or drag photos onto Hidden in the sidebar. - In the Hidden view, the menu offers Unhide instead.
A hidden photo leaves the view it was in, and a notice offers Undo.
The PIN
The first time you open Hidden, Portman2 asks you to choose a four-digit PIN; after that it asks for the PIN each time. The PIN is kept as plain text in the settings file: it guards a way of browsing, not the files themselves, which are not encrypted.
Showing hidden photos everywhere
Hover the Hidden row and click the padlock to show hidden photos in every view, after entering the PIN. They then carry a badge, and H toggles the badge in place instead of taking the photo out of the view. Click the open padlock to hide them again.
