Check sync between your computers
See at a glance whether this computer is keeping albums, tags and edits in step with the household's other computers, and what to do when it is not.
The Replicas pane answers one question: is this computer actually exchanging changes with the household's other computers? See A second computer for how replicas work.
Passes
This computer exchanges albums, tags and edits with the others in passes. The pane shows:
- Running — how often passes run from this app;
- Last pass — when it was and how it went;
- Through the folder — how many changes it left in the shared folder for switched-off computers, and how many it took from there;
- Over the LAN — how many other computers were up, and how many changes it received from them and handed over;
- Catalog — how a catalogue taken from another computer went, when there was one;
- Thumbnails — how copying thumbnails from other computers went.
Counts are shown even when nothing moved. Problems are coloured, with what to do about them.
When it is not working
A box at the top says Not syncing with the other machines when the shared folder does not agree that it is this library — nothing is exchanged until that is settled — or This machine is missing from the roster the others read when the others cannot see this computer, though changes still cross. The same problem shows as a notice outside Settings, with Show me.
The other machines
Every computer that has ever opened this library from the shared folder, with whether it is up and the address it serves. A computer that has been off for a month is still listed: a stale heartbeat means off, not gone. The last line says what this computer announces itself as.
If this computer has no usable FFmpeg, the pane says how many films it is missing compared with the others.
