Update Portman2
Portman2 tells you when a newer version is out and installs it from inside the app, checking the download before anything runs it.
An installed copy of Portman2 checks whether a newer version exists when it starts, and once a day while it stays open. The check sends only the platform, the release channel and the version you are running.
When an update is available
A small chip appears in the top bar beside the version number. Hover it to see which version is available, and click it to open the update dialog, which shows what changed.
The dialog offers:
- Download and install โ downloads the installer inside the app and checks it against the checksum the server reported. When it is ready, Close Portman2 and install closes the app and runs the installer, and Portman2 reopens when it finishes โ finish anything unsaved first. Not now closes the dialog instead.
- Download in your browser and Copy link, to fetch the installer yourself.
- Remind me later and Skip this version.
A download in progress can be stopped with Stop, and a failed one retried with Try again.
Portman2 is not code-signed yet. An installer downloaded inside the app is checked before anything runs it; one downloaded in a browser makes Windows SmartScreen warn that the publisher is unknown โ choose More info, then Run anyway.
If the last attempt to install did not finish, the dialog says so and names the folder holding the installer's log.
