Portman2 is in beta. Features are still being added, nothing here should be taken as final, and things can change or be removed without notice.

Undo a mistake

Undo a change you did not mean — photos moved to the trash, untagged or taken out of an album — with Ctrl+Z, or with Undo on the change's notice.

Notices appear at the bottom left of the window to say what just happened, often with the photo's thumbnail: "removed from album Holiday", "3 starred", "hidden 12 photos".

Undo

Most changes made from the grid, the viewer or a popup can be undone:

  • click Undo on the change's own notice, which undoes exactly that change; or
  • press Ctrl+Z, which undoes the most recent change.

Adding to and removing from albums, tagging and untagging, starring, hiding and unhiding, moving to the trash and restoring, and rotating can all be undone. Portman2 remembers the last ten changes for as long as it is open; undo does not survive a restart, and there is no redo.

If something has changed since — an album deleted, a file deleted forever — undo puts back what it can and says how much.

Dismissing notices

Click a notice to dismiss it early; otherwise it goes by itself. Notices for long-running jobs behave differently: see Background jobs.
