Search words, dates and exact terms
A Portman2 search matches years, months and dates, tag and album names and file names, and shows a photo only if every word you type matches it.
What one word matches
Each word is tried against:
- a date — a year from 1900 to next year, such as
2013; a month name, such asaugoraugust, meaning that month in every year; a month and year, such asaug 2013; or a full date written2013-08-28; - a tag name;
- an album name — which includes the photos in its sub-albums;
- the file name — only the name itself, not the folders above it, so
IMG_4411finds that file and08does not match every file in an August folder.
A word matches if any of these does. Capitals and accents are matched properly: pärnu finds Pärnu. A four-digit number outside the year range, such as a camera's frame number, still matches file names.
Exact terms
Picking a suggestion puts an exact term in the box, shown as a chip: tag:"Mum" matches only that tag and album:"Mum's 60th" only that album. A keyword chip matches photos the keyword model gave that word. Quotes keep a phrase together as one word: "new year".
What it searches
The search covers what the grid you are on can show. Searching the Trash finds things in the Trash, and hidden photos are found only where hidden photos are shown.
