Portman2 is in beta. Features are still being added, nothing here should be taken as final, and things can change or be removed without notice.

Multi screen

Choose what each screen shows

Choose what each screen shows: whatever you are looking at, one pinned photo, one candidate from Compare & pick, or a sheet of facts about the photo.

Every screen has a mode, which decides what it shows. You set modes in Screens ▸ Setup by dragging a mode box from the Modes row onto a screen's box. The mode's name is then painted into that box.

The modes

  • Live — whatever you are looking at: the grid's highlight, the viewer, the comparer's highlight, the editor or a slideshow. Every screen shows Live unless told otherwise.
  • Static — one photo, pinned with F2 or Insert from any view, or with Pin to static screen on a photo's menu. It stays until the next pin. See Pinning a photo.
  • Slot — the photo in one slot of the open Compare & pick, so each screen can show a different candidate. Use the steppers on the Slot box to choose the slot number before dragging it. The screen is empty while no comparer is open, or while it shows fewer photos than the slot number.
  • Stats — a sheet of facts about the photo: see The stats screen. Its follows live / follows static chip decides whether it describes what you are looking at or the pinned photo.

Changing and resetting

Drag a mode from one screen to another to move it. Drag it off a screen, or right-click the screen and choose Reset to Live, to put it back to Live.

Modes are remembered per device, so a tablet keeps its mode when its page is opened again. A screen that is not here right now is listed greyed under its group, with Forget to drop it.
