Delete photos to the trash
Press Del to delete the photos you do not want: they move to the trash, out of every view, and come back with one Undo or from the Trash view later.
The file stays on disk, in its folder, until the trash is emptied or the photo is deleted forever.
Ways to trash
- Press
Del. Portman2 asks Move to trash? first, naming the photo or counting the selection. - Press
Ctrl+Delto trash without being asked. Over 100 photos at once it asks anyway —Ctrl+AthenCtrl+Delis too easy to press by accident. - Choose Delete on the photo menu.
- Drag photos onto Trash in the sidebar.
These work in the grid, the viewer and popup windows. In the viewer the photo fades out and the next one takes its place.
Undo and restore
Trashing shows a notice with Undo, and Ctrl+Z undoes it too. Later, restore it from the Trash view.
Albums synced with QuMagie
A photo that is in an album synced with QuMagie is removed from QuMagie's album too when it is trashed. The Duplicates view warns about this on such a photo.
Photos can also be moved to the trash from a phone, on the LAN pages; deleting forever is only possible on the desktop.
