Restore deleted photos or empty the trash
Get back photos you deleted by mistake — they return to their albums with their tags — or empty the trash to delete them from disk for good.
Click Trash in the sidebar's Library section to see everything waiting to be deleted, with its count.
Restoring
Select photos and press U, or choose Restore on the photo menu. They go back to every view they were in, in their albums and with their tags.
Deleting some for good
In the Trash view the photo menu offers Delete forever instead of Delete, and Ctrl+Del deletes forever after asking. See Deleting forever.
Empty Trash
A bar over the Trash view counts what is in it and has an Empty Trash button. Emptying is the one way to remove everything at once, so it takes two clicks:
- Empty Trash asks Delete N files from disk forever?
- Delete forever does it. If you do not click it within a few seconds, the button goes back to Empty Trash. Cancel backs out.
Emptying the trash deletes the files from disk, with their thumbnails and their places in albums and tags. It cannot be undone.
