Play videos in your photo library
Videos play right in the library: a short muted preview as you hover a tile, full playback in the viewer and in popup windows, and inline in slideshows.
In the grid
A video tile shows a poster frame and the clip's length. Hover it, or move the keyboard highlight onto it, and it plays a short, muted, looping preview in the tile. Only one preview plays at a time. The previews are made by FFmpeg; see FFmpeg.
Videos in the sidebar narrows any view to its videos.
In the viewer
Open a video like a photo. It plays in the viewer at its own shape, with playback controls; click the picture to pause or play. ← and → move to the previous and next item as usual.
The info card (I) shows a live histogram of the frame being played, and facts such as the clip's dimensions and bitrate.
In the bottom-right corner the viewer offers Edit video — see Trimming a video — and, for a clip that keeps an original, chips saying why.
In a popup window
A video opened in its own window plays there; click the picture to pause or play.
In a slideshow
The flat slideshow plays videos inline, for their own length up to 30 seconds. The 3D slideshows show their poster frames.
The phone pages on the LAN play videos too.
Converting to H.264 makes a clip play in every phone browser.
