Portman2 is in beta. Features are still being added, nothing here should be taken as final, and things can change or be removed without notice.

Keyboard shortcuts

Popup window shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts for a photo open in a popup window of its own: star, tag, file into albums, rotate, hide or delete the photo it shows, and close the window.

Opening and closing

Key Action
Space / Enter / Esc Close the viewer or popup window

Selecting

Key Action
Ctrl+Space Select / deselect this image

Acting on photos

Key Action
H Hide. While hidden photos are shown, this toggles the badge and leaves the photo where it is; otherwise it leaves the view
S / Shift+S Star / unstar
R / Shift+R Rotate clockwise / counter-clockwise (photos only)
T Tag — pick an existing tag or create one
L Add to album — pick an existing album or create one
Shift+L Remove from this album (only inside an album view)
U Restore from the trash
E Reveal in Explorer (one image at a time)
Ctrl+Shift+F Find similar photos — switches the grid to everything that looks like this image; with several selected, more like these, by the same kind of scene
Ctrl+C Copy the files themselves — paste them into Explorer or an email
Ctrl+Shift+C Copy edits — take this photo's look, without its crop, to paste onto others
Ctrl+Shift+V Paste edits — give the copied look to the selection, or in the viewer to the photo on screen; each keeps its own crop, and one Ctrl+Z puts them all back
Alt+Enter Open the context menu for the current target
Ctrl+Z Undo the last action (the last 10 are remembered)

Deleting

Key Action
Del Move to the trash, with a confirmation
Ctrl+Del Move to the trash without confirming — inside the Trash view, delete forever with a confirmation
Shift+Del Delete from disk forever, with a confirmation
Ctrl+Shift+Del Delete from disk forever without confirming — a toast counts down for 10 seconds and can still cancel it

Album slots

Key Action
1 … 0 ADD to album slot 1–10 — never removes; already there says so
Ctrl+1 … Ctrl+0 The same, and an empty slot asks which album to put in it (hold Ctrl to see the slots)
Shift+1 … Shift+0 REMOVE from album slot 1–10 — explicit, because a digit never takes anything out. Top-row digits only: Windows turns Shift+Numpad into the navigation keys before the app sees it
