Automatic keywords for your photos
Portman2 can find what is in your photos — beach, snow, birthday — and label them with keywords, using a model that runs on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Unlike tags, nobody puts keywords on by hand.
Turning them on
Keywords need the Keywords capability: download it and switch it on under Machine learning. The photos are then analysed in the background.
Where they show
- In the search box, keywords are offered as suggestions alongside tags and albums. Picking one narrows the grid to the photos the model gave that word.
- In the viewer, the info card (
I) shows the photo's keywords as chips, each with its score.
Making a tag of a keyword
Click a keyword chip in the viewer, or use the keyword's row in the search suggestions, and choose Make a tag of this…. Portman2 says how many photos have that word above its cut-off and asks before tagging them. The result is an ordinary tag, which syncs and can be undone; the keyword stays.
The word list
The words the model looks for, grouped into categories, and how sure it must be before a word counts, belong to the library and are shared by its computers. Edit them in the keyword editor, and tune how sure the model must be with Refine the cut-off.
