Portman2 is in beta. Features are still being added, nothing here should be taken as final, and things can change or be removed without notice.

Video originals: undo or free the space

A trimmed, graded or converted video keeps the clip as it was, so Reset can bring it back — and once you are sure, delete that original to free the space.

The kept original is what every later save renders from, but it also takes space.

Seeing which ones

  • In the viewer, a clip that keeps an original shows a chip for each reason — trimmed, graded, converted — to the left of Edit video. Hover one: the original from before is kept, so Reset can bring it back.
  • On the videos bar, the Originals filter lists every video that keeps one.

Deleting the original

Click one of those chips, or choose Delete original… (or Delete N originals…) on the video's menu. Portman2 counts them and asks first, because it cannot be undone. Afterwards each clip is simply itself: no edited mark, no chips, and nothing for Reset to go back to.

Converted videos and the backup folder

When the library has a backup folder, a converted video's original is moved there instead of being kept in the originals folder, so converting frees the space by itself. Videos converted before the backup folder was set can be moved there afterwards: see Backup.
