File photos with one key: album slots
Album slots put up to ten albums on the number keys, so filing a photo into an album is one keypress. They work in the grid, the viewer and popup windows.
Seeing the slots
Hold Ctrl on its own for a moment and the slots appear at the top right: one card per slot, each with its digit, its album, and whether the current photo or selection is already in it — all, some or none. Let go of Ctrl and they disappear.
Setting up a slot
Press Ctrl with a digit (Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+0) on an empty slot, or click an empty card while holding Ctrl, and pick the album for it. Only one empty card is shown, after the filled ones. Click the × on a card to free that slot.
Filing
- A digit on its own (
1to0) adds the selection, or the highlighted photo, to that slot's album. It only ever adds, so pressing it twice does no harm; if they are all already in, a notice says so. Shiftwith a top-row digit takes them out of that slot's album.Ctrlwith a digit on a filled slot adds, like the digit alone.
Pressing the digit of an empty slot tells you how to fill it rather than opening anything. If a slot's album has been deleted, its card says album gone — pick another.
Numpad digits add, but Shift with a numpad digit does not remove: Windows turns it into a navigation key before Portman2 sees it.
