Import automatically from a folder
Make a folder you import from regularly — a camera card, a phone's backup folder — an import source, and Portman2 can watch it and import new photos by itself.
Adding and editing sources
On the Sources tab, click Add source, or the edit button beside an existing one. A source has:
- Name — what you call it, such as "Camera card";
- Folder — where the files are;
- Tags added to everything imported from here — tags put on every file it brings in;
- Include subfolders;
- Auto import (watch), and Check every — how often a watched source is looked at.
As you type a tag, the library's own tags are offered, and each tag shows as a chip that says whether it already exists or will be created.
The remove button takes a source off the list; the files in its folder are not touched.
Auto Import
A source with Auto import (watch) on is imported from automatically, at the interval you chose, while Portman2 is open. Its sources move from the Import tab to the Auto Import tab, which lists each one with its folder, its tags, how often it is checked, and when it was last swept and what that sweep found. The progress of a sweep shows there too.
When nothing is watched, the tab says so.
Files a source cannot date by itself wait in the Conflicts tab.
